iC2 achieves Cyber Essentials accreditation

We’re officially cyber secure!

We are pleased to announce that we have achieved certification for Cyber Essentials, ‘rubber stamping’ our observance of IT security practice. Cyber Essentials is a Government backed scheme that helps protect an organisation against a whole range of the most common cyber-attacks.

New call-to-action

Cyber security remains a very high-profile topic. The public exposure of state sponsored hacking by bad actors, and the ongoing fiasco of Huawei technology being embedded in the UK’s communications infrastructure, are just a couple of examples.

However, it is not just about hostile governments attacking the UK’s online assets or big businesses. The threat to all from hackers remains ever-present. With new vulnerabilities discovered on practically a daily basis, the threat environment is characterised as agile. The potential for new attack methods is continually evolving.

There can be no room for complacency. When it comes to IT security, just because you are secure one day, it doesn’t mean you can take the next one off…

Good physical security is like strong cyber security

There are fundamental cyber security practices that mean that hackers do not have an easy time. Like all opportunist criminals, they look for easy targets.

We can equate the cyber security of a business with the physical security of a building. An office might have CCTV cameras and signs, good lighting, windows, doors, glass and masonry in good order. There might be access control door entry systems and gates to control vehicle access.

When opportunist criminals wander past, they will take it all in very quickly and just keep on walking, in search of an easier target. In cyberspace, with the security measures that flow from Cyber Essentials in place, hackers have no easy access and look for softer targets that are less well protected.

A leader in CCTV and security solutions you can trust

iC2 is a leader. Where others in the industry are slow to adapt, we quickly recognise and acquire new skills. Here, IP networking is a case in point. As CCTV and other security elements converged with IT, training and expertise in IP technologies was pivotal to successfully building our business and reputation.

As a CCTV and security solutions company, we have always been highly conscious of gaining recognised accreditations. One of the problems with the ‘free market’ nature of the security industry is that it is largely unregulated. As a result, to establish our credentials, we have always pursued a strategy of voluntary regulation.

Consequently, we achieved and maintain our accreditations to National Security Inspectorate NSI Gold certification, BSI ISO 9001 Quality Management and BS5758, for screening personnel employed in the security industry.

Achieving Cyber Essentials certification continues this tradition, underpinning the quality of our services and solutions, and cementing our reputation as a CCTV and security solutions partner you can trust.
