Founded back in 1905, Chelsea FC is one of the leading football clubs in the English Premier League. Situated in Fulham, West London, Stamford Bridge is the home of Chelsea, a stadium with a capacity of 41,837.
The Work
iC2 was appointed by Chelsea to help the club fulfil all of their necessary security requirements for Stamford Bridge and the surrounding areas. This involved the design and installation of a state-of-the-art surveillance system, which would adhere to all of Chelsea’s health and safety and operational compliance.
As Stamford Bridge is one of the largest football stadia in the country, it was paramount that the CCTV cameras were of extremely high quality, so that potential security risks could be identified without a problem. Therefore, it was crucial that enough cameras were installed pitch-side and across the rest of the grounds to identify any crowd trouble that may occur.
Crowd congestion could become a potential challenge at a stadium such as Stamford Bridge. iC2 designed a CCTV camera network which was installed around the perimeter of the stadium, allowing the security team to monitor the fans entering and leaving easily and effectively.
iC2 discreetly placed CCTV cameras in the concourse of Stamford Bridge, e.g. by the kiosks and bars inside the stadium, so that supporters could be monitored at all times to prevent the likelihood of further security risks.
iC2 helped Chelsea with its required security needs, installing sixteen Avigilon HD 16 MP cameras pitch-side which will enable the security team at Chelsea to monitor and play back footage that has been captured from inside the stadium in close detail. A further 200 cameras were installed around Stamford Bridge to ease potential crowd control issues and to monitor the surrounding areas including car parks and all other public areas.
“This is by far the most sophisticated CCTV surveillance system ever installed into a UK sports stadium. iC2 has an enviable track record within sporting facilities security. The Chelsea project sets a benchmark for all stadia in the future and confirms iC2’s position as a forerunner in the CCTV industry setting us apart from other installers as a leader in cutting edge technology.”
